Cuban Medical Brigade Reaches One Month of Activity in Peru

A Cuban medical brigade celebrated a month of solidarity work in this northern Peruvian city and its surroundings, with attention to the victims of heavy rains registered in the region of Piura.
The head of the brigade of 23 doctors and other health professionals, Rolando Piloto, told Prensa Latina that the balance of the work done is positive and has received expressions of recognition from the authorities and the population.

He pointed out that the brigade carried out until yesterday 11, 241 attentions to the victims, as well as promotion and prevention of health through individual and collective talks, linked to epidemiological activities, corresponding to the profile of the group and the existing dangers.

The attentions, he indicated, were made in health centers of the city of Piura as well as working days in the shelters of tents where thousands affected lived who lost their homes because of the devastating floods.

Cuban solidarity workers, members of the Henry Reeve brigade specializing in disaster situations, celebrated International Workers’ Day with a medical day in the community of La Matanza, in the interior of the Piura region.

Before leaving Piura to La Matanza they met to commemorate in a brief act the transcendental date and reminded the Cuban historical leader,Fidel Castro, in a text about the meaning of the word revolution, while ratifying their commitment to the defense of The Homeland in front of any threat.

Piura is the region with the highest number of dengue cases, with a total of 1,503 confirmed and 7,249 suspected of the disease, and also recorded 89 cases of chinkunguya, according to the National Emergency Operations Center. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
