As this year marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Ernesto Che Guevara, murdered in Bolivia under CIA orders, over 2000 young women and men will gathered on April 2 at the areas of the Santa Clara city Memorial treasuring the mortal remains of Che and his companions to recall his legacy.

In what has been announced as an anti-imperialist action the youngsters from central Cuban provinces will carry out activities to also mark the 55 birthday of the Young Communist League and the 56 anniversary of the Jose Marti Pioneer Children Organization.
Communist Youth leader in Santa Clara, Zoila Delgado said that the initiative includes the screening of a documentary film on Che along a varied cultural program with local artists.
During the evening participants will use social networks to send their messages with hashtags such as #UJCuba55 and #NuestroChe, and early during the day some 1500 young women and men will be officially new members of the Young Communist League and another 300 will be granted the card accrediting them as new Communist Party members.
Actions to commemorate April 4, marking the anniversaries of the two organizations, have included a mobilization of youngsters to agricultural activities as well, in Santa Clara, while other activities are expected to take place throughout the country. (Taken from Cuban News Agency)
