Cubans emigrated to the United States, members of the Martiana Alliance (AM), handed over today a book of condolences with signatures collected in the city of Miami, after the death of the leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.

At the headquarters of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples (ICAP), Andrés Gómez, coordinator of the Antonio Maceo Brigade, one of the six organizations part of the AM, emphasized the pride of its members in accompanying the process of transformation initiated in the island on January 1, 1959.

He explained that this collection of rubrics was carried out during an event held last December at the premises of the Alliance in Miami, despite the harassment of a group of extremists who tried to thwart the homage to Fidel Castro, upheld by the hostility of the administrations of the United States against the Cuban Revolution.

The firmness of the AM members, even without the promised police protection, defeated the aggression and demonstrated the will of the patriot emigres to defend the right of the Cuban people to live and develop in peace, he said.

When receiving the book, ICAP Vice President Fernando González expressed the gratitude of the Cuban people for the work done by the Alliance since its formation 17 years ago, as well as organizations such as the Brigade Antonio Maceo that meets in 2017 its 40th anniversary. (Taken from PL)
