Cuban Parliament Vice President Talks with Italian Politicians

The US blockade of Cuba and other issues were the core of the meeting among several Italian politicians and the president of the Cuban National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament), Ana Maria Mari.

The blockade limits the economic progress of the country, she explained to the Italian delegation, led by the national coordinator for the Italian Left Party/Left, Ecology and Freedom, Nicola Fraoianni.

anamaria-marimachadoHowever, she said the that challenges did not limit Cuba’s progress in different sectors as health, education, biotechnology and security, among others.

Mari said the country is going through special moments in the construction of its social project and referred to the recently concluded 7th Conference of the Cuban Communist Party, scheduled on April 16-19.

She also gave more information about the public discussion of documents of the Conference, an active process of social participation to take records of opinions.

The European delegation exchanged about the situation of the left in Italy and went over issues related to the current political and social situation in Europe.

During the meeting, both sides were in favor of building a strong parliamentary relation.
