One of the best values among brother nations is solidarity gesture. It had been widely expressed in the activities to celebrate the International Workers’ Day in Cuba, which had the culminating demonstration in the International Solidarity Meeting held on Saturday, May 2, 2015.

It was celebrated as it has been for more than a decade, in the Conventional Palace of Havana where there met more than a thousand delegations of 205 organizations from 70 countries.

The meeting was presided over by Miguel Diaz-Canel, member of the Political Bureau and first vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers and was the best scenario to thank those attending the event for being part of the long international struggle in the return of the Cuban Five brothers unjustly held in the United States (US) for more than 15 years, who in retribution were also present, together with their relatives to share with the delegates.

The general secretary of the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC), Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, on behalf the National Secretariat, awarded Gerardo. Fernando, Rene, Antonio and Ramon with the Stamp 75 Anniversary of the foundation of the CTC and they also awarded 19 union organizations, solidarity groups and personalities that took as theirs the struggle for the freedom and return of the Cuban Five Heroes that were held in the US for fighting terrorism. Among the organizations were: the World Union Federation, NEGAU Union from South Africa; the Workers’ Federation Union from Brazil; the Group of Labor Exchange USA-Cuba; Graciela Ramirez, Alicia Jrapko, Gloria de la Riva, Heinz Gruberg and Harry Gruberg.

In the event, vice president of Foreign Relations Ana Teresita Gonzalez Fraga, updated those attending the meeting on the Cuban foreign policy, and the president of the Cuban Friendship Institute, Kenia Serrano Puig expressed the projections to resize those institutions, which will strengthen the fight for all the just causes of the world.

All those who participated in the event thanked Cuba for keeping these types of exchanges that get together all the organizations that fight for global solidarity.

The delegate Alba Rosa, representative of the Venezuelan working people who ratified the Venezuelans are facing the oligarchies who try to hamper the advances of the Bolivarian Socialist Revolution and stressed that the mutual support and solidarity is the main link in defense to the just and honest distribution of the welfares to the most unfavorable sectors.

She thanked too for the more than 3 million signatures the Cuban people sent the Venezuelans in support to the battle against Barack Obamas’ decree that lashes the homeland of Commander Chavez giving the justification, the fallacy that Venezuela is a threat to the US.

General Secretary of the Communist Party from Spain, Jose Luis Centella also addressed the audience in this event and noted that in these times the union is the victory card.

This event is worth to work with courage to find what joins us, conscious that we must be better organized in search to the efficient and convincing tools to achieve the goals the unions need to keep on consolidating themselves, the European party leader said.

There were also attending this event, Salvador Valdes Mesa, member of the Political Bureau and deputy minister of the Council of State; Raymundo Navarro Fernandez, member of the National Secretariat of the CTC and other leaders of the union movement.
