“It is time to widen our feeling of faith for this country, make this country more prosperous and just,” said Dilma Rousseff in her first public speech after it was known the results of the balloting done on Sunday, October 26 where she was ratified President of Brazil.

“I know the responsibility I have on my shoulders –she said-, we will build a more inclusive and productive country, with solidarity and opportunities that will value the work and energy of the people, especially the women, black and poor people.

We will build a Brazil that will look more to culture, science and to innovations. The support and affection that you have offered me in this campaign gives me the energy to keep on with more devotion. Today I am stronger, calm and mature to face this task, she said.

Dilma Rousseff candidate of the Workers Party (PT) won the elections with the 51, 32 percent of the votes against the 48,68 percent of the conservator candidate Aecio Neves, according to data published by the Electoral Supreme Court after the countdown of the ballots of the 98 percent of the votes.

Rousseff was the first woman in Brazil to become president and lead this country will rule for four more years to the greatest economy in Latin America and will have the difficult task to achieve a government coalition in Congress, represented by 28 parties.

Besides the head of State, Brazilian people also elected the governors from Rio de Janeiro, rio Grande do sul, Acre, Amapa, Amazonas, Ceara, Goias, Mato Grosso do Sul, Para, Paraiba, Rio Grande do Norte, Rondonia, Roraima and the Federal District of Brasilia.
