Ramsey Clark, former district attorney of the United States (U.S.) during his address in the 10th International Colloquium in solidarity with the Cuban Five and against terrorism said each country has the right to defend itself from violent actions using any kind of method to fight it.
He highlighted the braveness of the Cuban Five and urged not to stop struggling until Gerardo, Ramon and Tony are freed.
In his speech, Clark reminded that in April 1961 President Kennedy talked to him about the invasion to the Bay of Pigs, in his opinion, crushed.
“I will never forget that situation, which brought the worsening of the relations between both nations and made forced Cuba to resist and defend itself and today this country has brought light for the welfare of its people and the entire world.”
“After Giron, there were terrorist actions coming from the north (referring to the US), visible for everybody, so, it is neither an offense nor a crime to prevent deaths and violent actions against this small country.”
“What the Cuban Five did was to protect the system of the Cuban people; these men were sentenced for their no violent actions to protect their country against violent attacks from others.”
“It is difficult to understand the nobility of these men that worked to save lives. They had suffered long incarceration, subjugated to isolation.”
“We are here to ratify out fight in favor to the liberation of these men. Cuba is a marvelous neighbor.”
