US Blockade vs. Cuba: An Outrage to the Human Rights

The blockade of the United States (U.S.) that has cost the Cuban people 1, 11 trillion dollars is a violation of the UN Charter and the regulations of the International Rights and classifies as a crime of genocide when trying to yield of hunger or illnesses as human group.

“The blockade is still fully imposed by the US against Cuba.

Last week President Obama extended the Law of Commerce with the Enemy passed as war measure in 1917, to restrict the trade with nations considered hostile.”

This was reported to the press by the Cuban vice foreign affair minister Abelardo Moreno, in the Special School of children with physical motor limitations Solidaridad con Panama in the presentation of the Report of Cuba of Resolution 68/8 of the General Assembly of the UN “Need top ut an end to the economic, commercial and finance blockade imposed by the US against Cuba” that will be presented next October 28.

During 2013, in the health field the loses reached 66,5 million US dollars.

Since President Barack Obama arrived to the White House, the blockade has been intensified, mainly in the finance branch. The imposition of laws with extra territorial character impacts in foreign trade where damages in this period have reached 3,6 billion dollars.

In June Washington fined for about 9 billion dollars BNP Paribas French bank for violating the blockade imposed by the US against Cuba and other States.

Besides, the group was punished with the suspension of its operations in dollars for a year and they should fire 13 of the employees. They are investigating at present another French bank, the Credit Agricole for the same thing.

The Bank of Ireland recently prohibited money transfers of Irish currency to people living in Cuba, due to the commercial relation of that finance entity with American banks to avoid possible sanctions.

In July, the Red Bull North America beverage enterprise was also a victim of the blockade against Cuba. According to the Office of Foreign Welfare Control, the entity agreed to pay a fine of 89,775 dollars for filming a documentary in Cuba without the authorization of the American Treasure Department.

Since 1992 there have been expressed the almost unanimous reject to the unilateral sanction in force for 54 years with the purpose sufferings for the Cuban people. It is an illegal policy and contrary to the International Rights. Last year, from the 193 members of the UN, 188 voted in favor to the elimination of the blockade.

The vice- minister said that despite the international condemn, this worsens without any political, ethical, moral and economic justification.

“The US uses the fallacy that Cuba is a State that promotes of terrorism to continue with its policy of blockade.”

The majority of the Americans and the Cuban emigrants support the normalization of the bilateral relations and oppose the blockade that caused sufferings and constitutes a systematic violation of the human rights. The 76 percent of the Cubans have lived under its effects since they were born.

The US has failed in its purposes to destroy the revolutionary process and recover American power on Cuba.
