The Cuban Revolution opened a rainbow of opportunities for the Cuban women. Little by little they have gained their corresponding space for right. They have overthrown years of inequalities and discrimination. They are everywhere today in the Cuban society in different posts. They represent the 48 percent of the labor force in Cuba in the civil state sector and the 66 percent of the professionals and technicians of the country.

The Cuban Women Federation (FMC) was founded on August 23, 1960, leaded by Vilma Espin, 54 years ago. This organization opened the way for the full insertion to the Cuban women in the economic and political life of society.

During the first years of the Revolution, the battle was to insert them as labor force, but years later, it has been for the incorporation in important posts to take decisions and eradicate any vestige of inequality.

In the celebration of a new anniversary of this important organization, Cuban women feel grateful for the achievements they have at present, however, there is still a lot to do.
