Santiago de Cuba widens with a cultural embrace these days to allow the Caribbean join this people on the streets with the attendance of more than 2, 000 participants in the 34th Edition of the Fire Festival, a space in defense to the national identities of the nations in this area.
All the activities carried out until last Monday, July 7 has demonstrated it. In the opening gala, Ashwin Adhin, minister of Education and Communitarian Development from Suriname, the country this Festival is devoted, sent a message to greet the Cuban authorities on behalf the president of his country, Desi Bouterse, the best opportunity to hand in the International Award Casa del Caribe (Caribbean House) to six runaway communities from Suriname and to Juan Formell postmortem.
There highlights the debates from The Caribbean that joins us Colloquium with the attendance of the minister of culture and ambassadors from several countries of the region. During the fire Festival, there are demonstrations of Caribbean, Latin American and worldwide solidarity gestures with the cause of the Cuban Five antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in the United States, especially with poetry, music, dance, plastic arts, popular religions… publicly exhibited in all its diversity as root and vitality that distinguish us a Caribbean peoples.
