The importance to have an alliance between the organizations from LGBTI community and other social movements is to strengthen the commitment with social justice. This was highlighted at the opening of the 6th Regional Conference of the International Association of Lesbians, Gays, bisexual, Trans and Intersex for Latin America and the Caribbean that was held on Tuesday, May 6 in the Conventional Center America Square from Varadero.

Director in Science and Technology of the Minister of Public Health, of Cuba, Ileana Morales highlighted the need to promote a global culture in relation to the human rights and mainly the sexual rights.

Improve public policies to prevent stereotypes, taboos, legends and strengthen activist groups were the main goals the official stressed on behalf Cuba, the first Caribbean country organizing a meeting like this.

Mariela Castro Espin, director of the National Center of Sexual Education and president of the local organizing committee thanked they have selected Cuba to carry out this event and explained how specialists and activists from the commentary networks from this institution have assumed this commitment
