About 1,500 people from 80 countries have travelled to Havana, Cuba, attracted by the smoke and the origins of the Habano cigar and will turn this week into a festival of meetings and disagreements, competitions, tasting, knowledge and auctions.
Lovers of the Cuban cigar will enjoy a travel of a renewal program of one of the most authentic products worldwide: Habano cigar, “a roll of leaves” which lighted on the end, aborigines used to suck since before the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the New World.
The 16th Habano Festival welcomes personalities worldwide on the production, commercialization, businesses and communications since early in the morning on February 24 until 28.
In that group of admirers of the Cuban cigar there are 225 journalists and cameramen who will have the meadows of Vueltabajo and Corona and H.Upmann Factories as best sceneries to promote the job of men, who on the Sun or the shade, make from tobacco, an element of pleasure, love and friendship.
During the press conference held on Hall 3 of the Conventional Palace from Havana, it was informed the launching of three new cigar bands of Hoyo de Monterrey, Partagas, Trinidad and H.Upmann’s brands, which will be tasted by those participating in the festival. The prestigious brands of Cohiba and Montecristi will also have its habitual space.
In the afternoon they inaugurated the commercial fair and Habano Galery, as well as the international contest Habanosommelier which every year attracts well known personalities of arts. Habanos. S.A. is 20 years old and had an increase of the 8 percent of the sales in 2013.
The night of the welcome was held on Monday at Habana Club and the performances were by the cigar bands of Le Hoyo de San Juan and Partagas Serie D No 6; the first with a thick calibre and intermediate length that only uses the leaves coming from San Juan y Martinez. Partagas enriches with a new cigar band which keeps the intense character of its brand’s taste in surprising dimensions: they can enjoy it for 15 minutes.
The night was accompanied by the screening of an extraordinary show of synchronized swimming and the Cuban music. Van-Van’s mythical gang, leaded by Juan Formell performed for the first time in this Habano Festival.
On Tuesday morning they went to Pinar del Rio’s meadows.
