Universities in Spain and Cuba Discuss Cooperation Ties

Havana, Prensa Latina.- University authorities of Cuba and Spain in this capital reviewed the link state of cooperation, in order to deepen it.

During a meeting with nine rectors of universities in Spain present in Cuba in the context of the international event University 2014, the rector of the University of Havana (UH), Gustavo Cobreiro highlighted the excellence of ties with their Spanish counterparts.

In this regard, he highlighted the results of joint programs with Spanish universities and said the UH, main University of Cuba, promotes international cooperation.

In this regard, Cobreiro reported that the institution has 263 international projects covering 30 areas and maintains relations with more than 60 universities worldwide.

The visiting delegation was interested in the functioning of Cuban higher education and UH, which has an enrollment of about 18,000 students and more than 2, 300 teachers.

According to the head of international cooperation of UH, Marianela Constanten, the three countries with greater collaboration with the Havana university entity are Spain, Mexico and Brazil.

In the case of Spanish universities, we have over 120 cooperation agreements, allowing to carry out projects for institutional strengthening, human resources and community development with a major impact on society, she said.
