This event, which is held every year is aimed to train and inform professionals of this specialty on the new scientific advances to give better service to the patients.

It also has the purpose to update them on topics of interest on the daily activities of the anesthesiologist including the most advanced aspects of the anesthesia, the one for pediatrics, obstetrics, cardiology, keyhole surgery, oncology, geriatrics, with some patients having trauma and cardiopulmonary and brain reanimation aspects for the mechanical breathing, on total intravenous general anesthesia (TIVA), and the ethical, medical and legal responsibility of the anesthesiologist.

They also dealt with new ways in the study and treatment of the pain, said Doctor Idoris Cordero Escobar, president of the organization committee.

The specialists tackled several topics with the attendance of professionals from other countries who brought their knowledge and experience to Cuba.

Special attention was paid to the topic on severe pain. Doctor Jorge Yera Nadal referred to the six drugs which are recommended to be used in the treatment of such pain, because the transnational drug companies have invaded the market without taking into consideration the collateral damages it can cause to the patients.

A special moment in the debate was devoted to the security and legality of Anestheology that dealt with topics on quality, professional responsibility of the anesthesiologist and the security of the operating room.
